Integrating Technology in Spanish ClassI am very excited to use technology in our class to motivate you and help you learn as much Spanish as possible. I understand that different students learn in different ways. One of my goals in using technology is to provide students with a number of different formats for learning Spanish, and the opportunity to view the material taught in class multiple times.
Brain research has shown that social interaction is one of the strongest motivators for learning. I hope to use technology to increase the amount of social learning in our class activities. For example, I hope to use VoiceThread to record ourselves speaking and to comment on our classmates' audio posts.

21st Century Skills
Technology can help motivate and improve Spanish learning, but becoming proficient in working with technology has value in itself. Information, media, and technology skills as well as collaboration (which can be facilitated by technology) are listed as essential 21st century skills by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning.
For this reason, I believe that teachers in all subject areas have an obligation to teach students to become proficient technology users. I invite you to check out this link to Padlet and play around on the "Create Something" link. Padlet is one tool we will be using in the 8th grade 1:1 program to create a group collaborative page in Spanish class and practice 21st century skills.
