Why Study Spanish? |
“How can I speak the language when I don’t know it?”Rather than learning Spanish in order to speak it, you will be speaking Spanish in order to learn it! Communication is the most exciting part of learning, and I encourage you to “muck around” in the language by using all the vocabulary you know; this will stretch your language skills. In this immersion-based class, you can count on me to support you in taking risks in speaking Spanish and avoiding the use of English.
This year, I hope that while you are building a solid foundation in the Spanish language, you will feel inspired to learn Spanish and become curious about other peoples and cultures! You will be doing lots of communicative activities and trying new learning strategies that involve lots of fun and helpful games, like Total Physical Response, role-plays, songs, conversations, projects, “TPR Storytelling” (Teaching Proficiency through Reading) and more. |
